Cheque Writer & Print Format
Handwritten cheques get returned for mismatched words and figures, overwriting or unclear dates. This cheque writer takes the payee name, amount and date, converts the amount into words automatically, and places everything in the positions used on a standard CTS-2010 cheque leaf (202 mm × 92 mm) — date boxes at top right, payee line, two "Rupees" lines, the amount box and the signature area. Preview on screen with a sample cheque background, or switch the background off and print the text directly onto your bank's leaf.
How to print on an actual cheque
- Untick Show cheque background so only the text prints.
- In the print dialog select A4, portrait, 100% scale (no "fit to page"), margins none.
- Print once on plain paper, hold it against the cheque in light, and adjust the X / Y offset sliders (in millimetres) until the text sits on the lines.
- Feed the cheque at the top-left corner of the tray, printed side as per your printer, and print.
Safety features built in
A/c Payee crossing — two parallel lines with "A/C PAYEE ONLY" ensure the cheque can be deposited only in the payee's account. "or Bearer" strike-out — makes the cheque an order cheque. The amount prints with "/-" at the end and the words end with "Only", leaving no space for additions. The tool also warns if the date makes the cheque stale (older than 3 months) or post-dated.
Worked example
Payee: Noble Traders. Amount: ₹1,25,450.50. Date: 16-10-2026. The tool writes "One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Four Hundred Fifty and Fifty Paise Only", prints 1,25,450.50/- in the box and 1 6 1 0 2 0 2 6 in the date boxes. Validity shown: till 16-01-2027.
Cheque rules worth remembering
A cheque is valid for 3 months from its date (RBI). Positive Pay confirmation is required by most banks for cheques of ₹50,000 and above, and mandatory at many banks above ₹5 lakh — submit the payee, amount and cheque number to your bank through net banking before handing over the cheque. Dishonour for insufficient funds is an offence under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the alignment match my bank's cheque?
Most CTS-2010 leaves follow the same layout, but there are small differences. Use the X / Y offset sliders after a test print on plain paper.
Can I print many cheques at once?
This tool prints one cheque at a time. Enter the next payee and print again; your settings and offsets are remembered.
Is it safe to type cheque details here?
Yes. Nothing is uploaded; data stays in your browser. Avoid saving cheque images online.
What is an A/c Payee cheque?
A crossed cheque marked "A/c Payee" can only be credited to the bank account of the named payee, not encashed over the counter or endorsed to someone else.
