Number to Words Converter (Indian & International)
Every invoice, cheque, receipt and payment voucher in India must show the amount in words. Writing "Rupees Twelve Lakh Thirty Four Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Seven and Fifty Paise Only" by hand is slow and error-prone — a single slip can get a cheque returned or an invoice rejected. This tool converts a number into words instantly in both the Indian system (Lakh, Crore) and the international system (Million, Billion), plus a ready currency line with paise or cents.
How the Indian numbering system works
Digits are grouped as 3-2-2-2 instead of 3-3-3. After Thousand comes Lakh (1,00,000 = 100 Thousand), then Crore (1,00,00,000 = 10 Million). So 12,34,567 reads "Twelve Lakh Thirty Four Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Seven", whereas the same figure internationally is 1,234,567 — "One Million Two Hundred Thirty Four Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Seven".

Who uses it
Accountants writing cheques and vouchers, billing staff preparing GST invoices, students learning the Indian numbering system, and anyone filling bank forms, demand drafts or legal documents where the amount must be spelled out.
Cheque-writing tips
Begin the words immediately after "Rupees", draw a line through the unused space, and make sure the figure in the box matches the words — under the Negotiable Instruments Act, when they differ the amount in words prevails. Use the UPPER CASE option if your bank's cheque-printing software requires capitals.
